Job Title: Field ManagerJob Location: Vihiga County
The Field Manager will be responsible for managing the Farm Input Programme and supporting our village-based field officer staff with high-quality training and support.
The Field Manager will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Overseeing the progress of the 2015 Programme – reviewing and reporting on farmer performance in terms loan repayment, agricultural practices, harvest etc.
  • Managing a team of 4 Field Officers and providing support through field observations, feedback sessions, mentorship and weekly trainings
  • Troubleshooting and conflict resolution for farmers and farmer groups experiencing challenges
  • Relationship management with key external stakeholders – seed companies, fertiliser manufacturers
  • Project planning including input procurement, human resource allocation and budgeting for 2016 Season

Required:

  • Language: fluent in English and Kiswahili
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills, including typing and email

  • Integrity and a positive attitude
  • Demonstrates high-quality work with a strong attention to detail
  • Independent worker with strong ability to manage own schedule and tasks
  • Comfortable and confident public speaker
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic and flexible team
Desired:
  • Top-performing undergraduate degree in agriculture, community development, management, or other relevant field from a recognized University
  • Previous experience managing a team
  • Previous project management experience
  • Previous experience working in similar agriculture/microfinance projects
  • Proven ability to set and meet targets on the job
